Trends: Internet penetration in Africa was 35.2% as on 31 December 2017. Mauritius ranks first in terms of ICT Development Index and shows significant progress towards becoming an information society. The Internet sub- scriptions per 100 inhabitants in Mauritius are 66.6% (2015), and 51% Mauritians make daily use of the Internet. Challenges: Lack of ICT infrastructure in place to enable the use of the technological tools . Wi-Fi facilities are restricted. laboratories are often reserved for IT students. Moreover, some students do not have broadband Internet access and cannot fully benefit from all interactions necessitating Internet connection.
