Trends: The penetration of mobile and fixed phones too is one of the lowest in Malawi as compared with other countries across the African continent. 45% of the households in Malawi use a mobile phone while 1% use fixed phones. Challenges:high cost of ICT services, unavailability of ICT equipment, poor electricity or energy, lack of awareness of how best to use ICT in education, lack of government investment or support, lack of private investment, lack of relevant content and lack of confidence in embracing ICT
