I use Asuwada and Ubuntu theories to define African communal social structures, and how these structures engender important social capital, which in themselves are part and parcel of communities’ communication protocols. I also propose alternative technologypenetration measuring instruments for communal societies, by referencing an adaptation of Pareto principles. To demonstrate how Asuwada theories apply in communal communication contexts, I used the 2011 and 2015 Nigerian Presidential elections as case studies.
